Go to any major sneaker retailer, and the New Balance sneaker you're guaranteed to see on shelves is the classic New Balance 574. It's a retro runner style that's not just widely available, but one that looks stylish on every guy, whether they're tall, short, a teenager or a grandfather. Although the 574's style was a little, well, generic in a sea of sneakers, now New Balance has introduced a major update to make these more interesting, 574S—a sporty, streamlined version of the sneaker that finally brings the style into the 21st Century.

The 574S is a completely re-engineered version of the style. The shape is much slimmer than the original (+ 1 point), replaced a traditional tongue with a more sock-like design (that I really love), but the most notable different is the shoe's mesh lining. For its introduction the 574S is only be available in two modern variations of black and white, both of which feature various red accents. It's a move we like from New Balance because it keeps the focus on just how different the 574S is from its predecessor down to its core, and also leaves the door wide open for more interesting colorways to come through the pipeline in the coming months.

Whether or not it'll become a street staple like those Nike and Adidas styles we'll have to wait and see, but it's nice to know that the 574 can now truly appeal to everyone.
